Welcome! My name is Reed, Reed Daly, commonly known as The Reading Pig. My true to life beginnings are based on Dr. Clement utilizing a small rubber pig at a workshop with his colleagues. The pig was so well received that he brought it along to a second grade class with some idea that it might ‘pacify’ the kids during reading time. Hence, the birth of The Reading Pig.

The Reading Pig (me) became such a topic of conversation that I traveled regularly with Dr. Clement to conferences and presentations. On such a trip in September of 2014, Dr. Clement readied me for his keynote presentation. As I was placed atop the podium, Max Femur asked, “What’s that?”  It was at that time that I was promptly introduced to Dr. C’s Agent, Max Femur.  Little did I know where that introduction was headed. On the drive home from that presentation and from the comfort of Dr. C’s briefcase, I could hear Dr. C and Max discussing what a hit I was that day. Max declared, “There’s more to that pig than meets the eye”.

Fast forward, I became the subtitle and the focal point of a chapter in Dr. C’s next book – Legendary Leadership Lessons – The Reading Pig. That book launched in September of 2015. However, despite being named in the subtitle….I was unexpectedly ‘upstaged’ that day as Dr. C had a marching band perform at the book signing.

No worries, both Dr. C and Max knew that there was plenty of ‘pork’ to go around. With that in mind, Dr. C went back to the well and wrote this story… The Reading Pig Goes To School. Intended as an early grade reader, this book is THE real story, and that ain’t no ‘pork’. It was at this point that I truly did come to life through the creative mastery of our illustrator, Judy Nostrant.

Children, please enjoy my story as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. Parents, adults and teachers, The Reading Pig is only getting started. The Reading Pig Goes to the Library is complete. It is slated for a Thanksgiving 2016 release. That’s right, pork NOT turkey in November.
